Nagai Power Project  is a proposed 300 MW coal based thermal power station promoted by KVK and MEIL jointly.The Power Project is located near Nannilam taluk Village, Nagapattinam District,Tamil Nadu,India.The Project has commenced construction and is expected to commissioned in June 2013. Phase-I of the proposed project will consist of one (1) no. of Steam Turbine,Generator (STG) set of 150 MW and one (1) no. of Pulverized Coal Fired Steam Generator and associated balance of plant. The steam turbines will drive the turbo generator at a speed of 3,000 revolutions per minute (rpm). The steam generator to be used at the plant will comprise of a water cooled condenser, a furnace, and radiant convection super heaters.

Fuel supply to the Nagai Power Plant

The Nagai thermal power plant is expected to use imported coal from Indonesia along with coal procured from the domestic markets. The plant will require approximately 3,480t of coal per day at a plant load factor of 80%.
In May 2015 Nagai Power requested a five-year extension of the project's environmental clearance, first issued on May 27, 2010.The extension was granted in March 2016.
